The high school football offseason in Western Massachusetts looked different 10 years ago.
During the winter and spring, players exercised at local gyms. Then at the start of the summer, coaches unlocked the weight rooms at their schools.
Teams exercised together, linemen flipped tires and skill position players ran sprints.
Some teams went to developmental camps, but most programs were insulated; working hard on their own, but rarely interacting with people from other schools.
